Europaføderajonens president Ulla Madsen har kommet med følgende hilsen i anledning kunngjøringen av Nobels fredspris for 2014:
On behalf of all our 35,000 members, I warmly congratulate Malala Yousafzai on receiving the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize, together with Indian children's rights activist Kailash Satyarthi.
In campaigning for girls' education, the 17-year-old Pakistani activist personifies the values Soroptimist stands for. She is an inspiration to continue our "Educate to Lead" theme, targeting women and girls, through formal and informal educational opportunities.
Soroptimists know that education is the key for achieving women’s empowerment and gender equality and we are thrilled to see Malala Yousafzai win this most prestigious prize, which only confirms the importance of the work we have been doing for decades now to promote the education of women and girls through scholarships, mentoring, improved access to education, improved curricula, better learning conditions and facilities, and much else.
On behalf of the 35,000 women who are members of Soroptimist International of Europe: Congratulations, Malala!
